Carbonate Outcrops

In North America, outcrops are prevalent along the western coast, the southeastern United States, and parts of Mexico. Central America and the Caribbean also have notable concentrations, particularly in Costa Rica and Cuba. In South America, significant outcrops are found in Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. Europe shows widespread outcrops, especially in France, Spain, Poland, and Ukraine, with additional dots in the United Kingdom and Sweden. Africa has notable outcrops in Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. In Asia, outcrops are concentrated in Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with additional dots in China, Mongolia, and Russia. Southeast Asia has numerous outcrops, particularly in Indonesia. In Australia, outcrops are found along the eastern coast and in southern Australia, with additional dots in New Zealand.

Water Resources Vulnerability

Areas shaded in light yellow represent regions with arid and low water use, predominantly found in parts of Australia (central regions), Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Mauritania, and Yemen. Regions with low vulnerability, less than 10 percent, are shown in light orange and are primarily located in most parts of Africa, South America, Canada, Russia, most of Asia. Areas with low-medium vulnerability, ranging from 10 to 20 percent, are depicted in orange and are scattered throughout some parts of Japan and U S A, some parts of Asia and Europe. Medium-high vulnerability areas, between 20 to 40 percent, are shown in light red and are mainly found in South Africa, China, and many more. High vulnerability regions, ranging from 40 to 80 percent, are shaded in red and are located in parts of U S A, Europe, and Asia. Areas with extremely high vulnerability, over 80 percent, are shown in dark red and include most of U S A and Asia. Some areas such as Greenland and South Pole are marked with a gray shade, indicating no data available for those regions.

Days with Heavy Fog

Areas with 80 days or more of heavy fog are shaded in dark blue, prominently seen in some parts of northern Canada and the western coast of the United States. Regions with 60 days of heavy fog are shaded in purple, visible in some areas of northern Alaska and northeastern Canada, including regions of Victoria Islands, Parry Islands, and Naujaat. Areas experiencing 40 days of heavy fog are shaded in pink, found in parts of extreme eastern Canada, including Ellesmere, the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, Nunavut, and some coastal regions of the northern United States. Regions with 20 days of heavy fog are shaded in orange, noticeable in parts of the western and northeastern United States, and most of the eastern coast, as well as in northern Canada. Areas with 10 days of heavy fog are shaded in yellow, observed in many parts of the United States and Canada including South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Dallas, Montana, New York, Calgary, Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba, Yellowknife, Northern Territories, Yukon, Fairbanks, Alaska, Nome, Whitehorse, Juneau, New Mexico.
