WorldPopulationThe ratio of the number of people in ages not in the labor force (ages 0–15 and 65 and older) compared to the number of people in ages typically in the labor force (ages 15–64). A higher ratio indicates more people outside of typical workforce ages.
A map highlights the global dependency ratios: Dark purple shows the highest (over 75 percent) in Africa, including Niger and Mali. Light purple shows lowest (under 50 percent) in China, India, Pakistan, Brazil, and Greenland.
