In North America, Canada consumes between 4 and 6 percent of world nuclear energy; the United States consumes 32 percent; and Mexico consumes less than 1 percent. In South America, Brazil consumes between 1 and 3 percent, and Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Argentina consume less than 1 percent. In Europe, Russia and France consume between 7 and 31 percent; United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Sweden, and Finland, between 4 and 6 percent; and Ireland, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Romania, and Greece, less than 1 percent. In Africa, Algeria and Egypt consume less than 1 percent, whereas South Africa consumes between 1 and 3 percent. In Southwest, Central, and South Asia, India consumes between 1 and 3 percent, and Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh less than 1 percent. Areas with 80 days or more of heavy fog are shaded in dark blue, prominently seen in some parts of northern Canada and the western coast of the United States. Regions with 60 days of heavy fog are shaded in purple, visible in some areas of northern Alaska and northeastern Canada, including regions of Victoria Islands, Parry Islands, and Naujaat. Areas experiencing 40 days of heavy fog are shaded in pink, found in parts of extreme eastern Canada, including Ellesmere, the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, Nunavut, and some coastal regions of the northern United States. Regions with 20 days of heavy fog are shaded in orange, noticeable in parts of the western and northeastern United States, and most of the eastern coast, as well as in northern Canada.
