Irrigated Crop Intensity

WorldEconomicAgriculture

A measure of comparing the amount of land in irrigated crops is shown as a percentage of all land that is equipped (available) for irrigation. Areas of double-cropping—where the same area is cultivated and irrigated twice in a year—are counted twice. Thus, the land in irrigated crops can exceed 100%.

FAO AQUASTAT Irrigation and drainage development

Irrigated crop intensity with the highest intensity (over 160 percent) shaded in dark green in China, Argentina, Egypt, Nigeria, Poland. Lowest intensity (less than 100 percent) shaded light green in South Africa, Niger, Bolivia, Ukraine, Iran, Turkey.
